Year 9 Options
It would be an important stage for your child's education in deciding subjects that they would like to take at Key Stage 4. Followed please find all the information you would need.
Options Booklet
Some points for you and your child to consider when deciding on preferred subjects for KS4 are as follows:
- All examinations for GCSE will be taken at the end of the course – in the summer of Year 11. All students taking Religious Study GCSE will sit at the end of Year 10.
- BTEC/Cam Techs are assessed through a mixture of coursework and examinations. The examinations are not necessarily at the end of Year 11 and could be at any point through the two year course.

KS4 options evening – Presentation and options booklets distributed to parents/carers including opportunities to speak to teachers about KS4 subjects. (Please find the details on page 2 of this document.)

Monday 22 January 2024 |
Students complete a straw poll on the initial subjects they would like to study at KS4. The information is then used to build the option blocks for when parents submit a student’s final subject choices.

Tuesday 30 January 2024 |
The final options form is released to parents via the online options Google form.

Tuesday 30 January 2024 |
Year 9 parents’ evening – an opportunity for you to discuss a student’s progress and discuss/confirm the final options choices.

|
Friday 9 February 2024 |
The deadline for the online options Google form to be submitted. Follow up conversations with students in regards to the appropriate pathway through a series of interviews.
|
|
May / June 2024 |
KS4 subjects will be confirmed to students and parents.
